Economic growth means something different to each of us

It’s the driving force that ensures we can put food on our tables, go to work, take care of our children, seniors and those most vulnerable, and ensure the air we breathe is clean.

We are all so busy in our daily lives that we rarely stop to think about how important economic growth is to each of us and our families.

Economic growth is not an abstract concept discussed in boardrooms

At a time of compounding global crises and while our economy is in transition, Canadians need to come together to share ideas around a plan for inclusive long-term growth.

This isn’t about agreeing on specific policy solutions. This is understanding the connection between our individual struggles and lack of economic growth.

Economic growth is slowing and productivity is lagging

While in some ways Canada is better off, we are deeply concerned by key performance indicators that show our economy is heading in the wrong direction.

This will have substantial opportunity costs for our society. In every community we visit, we see the consequences this is having for Canadians.
