What Works Summit

Coalition Co-chairs Hon. Anne McLellan and Hon. Lisa Raitt spend this session at the Social Progress Imperative's (SPI) What Works Summit at the Banff Centre of Arts and Creativity held in June 2022. They discuss the Coalition's goal, the effectiveness of its bipartisan approach, and the parallels between the Coalition's scorecard and SPI’s own Social Progress Index. 2022 Tansley Lecture

Organized annually by the Johnson Shoyama School of Public Policy at the University of Regina, the prestigious Tansley Lecture honours Donald D. Tansley and his remarkable career as a senior civil servant in Canada. On May 26, Coalition Co-chairs, Hon. Anne McLellan and Hon. Lisa Raitt delivered this year’s Tansley Lecture virtually to an audience of 250 from the University of Regina, the University of Saskatchewan and the First Nations University of Canada, as well as an audience from the federal, provincial and municipal levels of government, the private sector and the general public.

Public Policy Forum Growth Summit

The Coalition for a Better Future’s message about the need for a long-term plan for economic growth for Canada that is sustainable and inclusive was applauded by policy makers and industry leaders across the country in April. Coalition co-chairs Hon. Anne McLellan and Hon. Lisa Raitt were featured at the Public Policy Forum’s Canada Growth Summit 2022 in Toronto on April 28, 2022 in a fireside chat with PPF President and CEO, Edward Greenspon.

Carolyn Wilkins

Carolyn Wilkins, former Senior Deputy Governor of the Bank of Canada, kicked off the summit by highlighting why economic growth matters. She observed that Canada’s weak GDP growth per capita has a direct impact on Canadians, stating “It diminishes our power to help ourselves financially, and those in need, our capacity to invest in Canada’s future, and our ability to keep public finances on a sustainable track.”
